Vshojo celebrating 4yrs of existence. With a 24hr charity relay.
They’re up to $69k of the $75k goal for Make A Wish.
Currently it’s Zen hosting (who just dropped 2.5k to lead by example).
I look at the news and despair; I watch vTubers and believe the future is better. Honestly; fostering a caring community is what’s needed.
-
PS; if you check this out, and have no idea… Zens streams can feel a bit weird. She’s completely anonymous, to the point of using custom text to speech tech to talk. That’s why there is a delay with her, and occasional mis-speaks.
Think on this: she could be anyone. And that’s why I adore anonymity on the web. Become who you want, do what you want, be your true self, sidestep any limitations reality might put on you.
-
Aaaand there we go; past the goal. With a whale that just dropped $4k without even leaving a message.
-
Tangentially; this is also why I kinda dislike “creator centric” communities. They don’t integrate; they become “sport team” asshats. I won’t name names. But vTubers? They’re most often not individuals, they’re naturally part of a bigger community - and you can *tell* - it’s a nicer place to be.
-
“In times where we don’t see much kindness, you guys are showing a light. Those who think ‘oh I can’t donate’ you count; you are showing support.”
I wish more communities built each other up like this. I wish more communities chased *the positive* and spread *the positive*.
Ha, and Froot just dropped $5k donation. Jesus.
-
“Thank you for coming together and changing lives. We are all human at heart, despite any differences”
Why is a fucking cartoon dragon/robot lady doing better community building and leadership than most fucking politicians leading the world?
-
They just broke $100k, and the messages from the community to each other forced the announcer DJ they’re working with to go mute for a bit as he “I have to stop a second, I’m getting a bit emotional”. And muted himself.
lol, and Zen had to do the same.
Good communities. Everyone, really, just does better if they belong to good communities. Instead of _fucking sport team tribes_. Communities. Not tribes.

@mattwilcox it reminds me of the epic hbomberguy fundraising donkey Kong for mermaids.
The community started to coalesce around the stream.
