Is it possible to show everywhere some user's field value instead of username?

Display Names aren't currently in NodeBB. Its not really something that has been requested that much. Considering you can change usernames.

I have test with your first solution @baris

Result :
the user who sends the message does not see it displayed. For this he must refresh the page with F5 = no refresh of the chat. The other users do receive a notification, which the oin does not want.
--> The global chat should refresh itself when sending a message from anyone without notifying the members of the chat room

Hi all,

We are going to be using NodeBB for our company user group. My supervisor has asked if during the user registration if we can ask for a couple of more fields. Specifically we want to know either the company or institution the user is with and also an instrument serial number.

What would be the process to get these added to our user database?
