Exactly. Some things are just understood that we all do but we still don't share those experiences.

First of all, thank you for taking the time to type this reponse. It's interesting to hear other people's perspectives.

I heard somewhere that a lot of artists and creative people are people who have experienced abuse in their childhood/youth.

I'm not really sure, though, in which direction the arrow of causality goes. I guess it's more like: Creative people are more sensitive --> experience "normal" things more like abuse --> report later in life they were abused in their childhood.

Maybe I'm wrong about this, but I guess that's how it was for me.

Also, even if gay-ness was a symptom of a sickness, forbidding gay-ness would definitely not help. Rather, I think of it as "my body wants to cure me and gayness is the cure, not the disease. It is an unusual method to make me feel better and maybe process sexual experience and get into social connections. It's definitely not something that will make things worse." That's my idea, at least.

I appreciate you being respectful. Most people just assume I want to eliminate homosexuality via conversion therapy or some new Spanish Inquisition and they call me names and dismiss me. You are refreshingly calm.

I like your point about causality. That's totally fair and worth me revisiting my research, although I'm still very confident in my results.

As for your comment about "forbidding gay-ness" I totally agree. We shouldn't forbid it at all, and I never said we should. I just said I think homosexuality is not a normal healthy mental state imo and everyone flipped out lol and projected a ton. If you're gay, you're gay and I don't think that can change. But I do think homosexual behavior is a symptom of deeper social issues, and that if we treat these issues, homosexuality will naturally diminish just like my fever goes down when I take Theraflu. The fever isn't bad in and of itself within normal levels, its just a sign of something totally different going on that needs attention.

I'm all in favor of treating homosexuals the same as heterosexuals, not discriminating, watching out for and correcting misinformation like "AIDS is contagious by contact with sweat" etc., and just being kind normal people.

You're projecting, and I don't know why. "homophobia" is makes no sense, you shouldn't be scared of gay people. They aren't scary. But they also aren't a totally benign societal trend to be ignored at worst or insincerely celebrated at best. They are people who need help, and the trend in society cannot persist without serious consequences.

The horror i once experienced as a teenager after going out the front of the house to take the bin out and realising that those closely-bunded-bamboo-strip blinds we have on our front window create a one-way window effect at night, and that i could see my dad sitting at the family pc illuminated only by the glow of the CRT monitor.
