#WritersCoffeeClub for Sept 11:
How do you write? Old-school or digital? A mix?
Writing with a pen is physically painful for me so I'm 100% digital. I don 't like shouting at recalcitrant machines or using a stylus, so: 100% keyboard, too. I dislike Microsoft products and I'm an old UNIX guy so I'm mainly Mac and some Linux. I do a lot of research as I write so writer decks don't generally work for me—I need a laptop/desktop or, at minimum, an iPad. Tools: markdown and/or @scrivenerapp.

Honourable exception to the no-writerdeck rule: I recently acquired a (Japanese keyboard) Pomera DM250 via eBay and with the aid of a USB-C cable and rsync, plus some configuration tinkering, I've got it syncing nicely with Scrivener *and* Scriv can generate Markdown output with the header levels that the DM250 recognizes as outline headings. Still getting the hang of it, but at 610 grams it's lighter than an iPad Mini with keyboard case, and battery life is over 20 hours on a charge.

@cstross this has me thinking about resurrecting my Psion Series 5

@orangetronic If you are okay with Android, look for a second-hand Planet Computers device—the Gemini (1st gen) is sluggish, the Cosmo Communicator is much closer to what the S5 should have been (but is a poor phone), the Astro Slide (final generation) broke the company but is fastest/best if you can find one.
They were all designed by Martin Riddiford, who did the Series 3 and Series 5, and it shows!
