@timbray I have pre-ordered one but it hasn't arrived yet. A friend who had access to a pre-release unit said it was interesting; I have higher tolerance than he does for weird so ... we'll see.
FWIW, as best as I can tell it isn't really "e-ink" per se, but something more like a B&W, low-power LED.

@luis_in_brief @timbray
“non-emissive”, so not LED (aside from the amber backlight). -
Apparently the OS is Android at some level, that's the Android Kindle app in the demos. 60fps eInk + Android feels compelling. Mind you, monochrome.

@luis_in_brief Please write up your experience when you get some hands-on.

@timbray I’m sometimes tempted by the thought of running Android Emacs on a Boox Tab Ultra C with keyboard case. So far, sanity has kept me from ordering one …

@luis_in_brief @jlundell Yeah, I watched the video and the dude is now talking about LLM this and that… but he was more convincing when talking about the actual display tech.

@rudi I tried Emacs on my Samsung 7+, there's even photographic evidence here: https://www.tbray.org/ongoing/When/202x/2021/06/22/Galaxy-Tab-S7-Plus. It worked OK, but I didn't abandon the Mac as a writing platform.
