YouTube (iOS app) - if you have screen rotation turned off - still rotates a video if you play it and push the full screen - and then there is no way to return to the main navigation (i.e. if you had done a search) just options for their next suggested video
Gmail - I was browsing past the first 50 messages, new message came in, it was displayed on my screen as message 51, then as message 1 when I returned in all messages view

I'm absolutely convinced that the folks building gmail don't think anyone actually wants to use the All messages view as they break it all the time (and force you into other views when you first open gmail in a new browser tab) but I don't want the view that hides messages - I signed up for the messages, I want to see them and choose which to read when - frequently stuff gmail filters out of my inbox (not due to my numerous rules to do that) are actually messages with time sensitive contents

@Rycaut Why not use a property email client like Thunderbird or K9?
-
@newstik because I have about 1M emails and do not want to download my emails to a given device or to use a separate app on one device but not others. I switch between my MacBook and my iPhone hundreds of times each day. (never heard of K9 mail before - but also don't have Android and have zero interest in switching to Android as it has nothing that I want and switching would be very disruptive).
-
@Rycaut The good news is that Thunderbird is working on porting to iOS (and Android, where they take over K9). Thunderbird is already on Linux, Windows and MacOS.
Having said that, I am sure there are numerous IMAP clients that work on MacOS and iOS already and are better than the Gmail interface provided by Google.
-
@newstik the challenge is how "better" is defined - a lot of people use email in ways that are different I think than I do - and some have features that replicate ones I already use extensively in gmail (and/or don't work well with gmail's eh "quirks" - Thunderbird has an entire FAQ page about the unique interactions with gmail). For example I have 100's of filters in gmail - while I probably need to and should edit them I'm reluctant to then layer on a different set of filters in another app
