(honestly this powerful image will end up in the history books … do not know who to credit with taking it, but that has to be a photo of a lifetime)

@[email protected] I don't know how NZ's parliament works but I want her to represent everyone and everything, everywhere

@sarahhbickerton can anyone explain what this bill would do and why people find it good or bad?

@anselmschueler @sarahhbickerton apparently everyone else in the debate in Parliament was against it.
From a relative newcomer to Aotearoa New Zealand: the Treaty Principles Bill purports to unilaterally redefine the terms of what is considered to be the founding document of the New Zealand government, an agreement between the British Crown and the indigenous people, in ways that are inconsistent with how it has been interpreted in the last 50 years, and diminishing Māori say on issues.

The power of Maori influence for me is best exemplified by the singing of Pokarekare ana, a love song, after the acceptance of the amendments to the Marriage Act to provide for equal rights for everyone, 11 years ago. This is how government represents people. #loveislove

Such a wonderful experience. You are lucky.
This made me cry when I saw this. Years ago. Government CAN and SHOULD be for all.
