i agreed with this when i watched the movie but something about it always bothered me. i get it now. it's because a virus does what it does because of its nature. humans choose to live like we do. not at the beginning but we know enough now to at least try to make an effort to stop, and most people choose not to. i guess you could make the same argument for invasive species other than us. but we do seem to fit the definition more than that of a virus.

it's funny though. wasn't trying to call anyone out. it just occurred to me that we are and that the only reason we aren't qualified as one is because we are the ones making the decisions. it's not a pleasant thought. how destructive we are.

I hate this kind of doomerism so much.

I know it’s just a shower thought, which are meant to be kinda flawed and reductive, but it’s just such a reckless dismissal of everything we’ve accomplished as a species.

Just because we've done some pretty cool things, it doesn't dismiss the really bad things we've done. That's just as a reductive argument as we've done some bad things so that dismisses the good things.....
