It's not pretty for one of our competitors.
I turned the Asus ROG Ally X into a Steam Deck — it proves Windows 11 kills power and battery life
SteamOS is officially coming to the Asus ROG Ally X, but I got impatient and installed it early. Here are the results, and why it proves Windows 11 should not be used on any gaming handheld.

@jorge You know which side I'm supporting here, but those seem like some very cherry-picked numbers to me. The only consistent, reliable benchmark of the 3 tested is CP2077, and we definitely know Linux wins on that one.
I think broader testing is required -- which is what I've been doing all day

@killyourfm Oh man please tell me you're writing this up.
I need more data!
-
@killyourfm Also, you poor, poor man, doing all that tough work ... all day even?

@jorge Heh, "work." I'm having the time of my life and I'm so happy I returned to this career path!
And yep, I'm getting a LOT of data to write about, (both Turbo and Performance modes).

@killyourfm Oh man if we lose then that means we have to claw our way back after such a bold statement.
This will be such a cool challenge, I'm all in.

@jorge Well that's the thing, there's no black + white winning and losing right now -- except in the user experience battle. Bazzite + SteamOS already won.
But, Tom's Guide shouldn't have made such a blanket, clickbaity statement based on 3 games. It sets people up for disappointment when they play some games where Windows has better performance. Then they get disappointed with Linux, not with the author.
I think a smarter approach is demonstrating how fast Linux is gaining on Windows.

@jorge Like "Linux isn't winning everything right now, but let me paint you a picture of that inevitable future."
