We use Google Apps, and registered our domain back when it was still free
Not an option anymore, though , so alternatives are good.
Right on. I am trying to get that set up in conjunction with my digitalocean droplet but google is having a hard time verifying it right now.

@akumbhare This can be done in latest versions.
It's under Settings > Guest. Just tick allow guest handles. It doesn't ask for an email, just a username.
