@baris I cannot achieve this since the banned users' list contains all sorts of people in it, including trolls and spam members.
Is there any way to create a group that will not inherit any privileges from the registered-users group?
the current local emailer plugin on the plugin list is completely non-functional but it's still being listed with a core installation. I had to find an updated version of it and manually install it from the command line. Despite this, the setting values in this plugin don't save properly when going back to the page so it's difficult to tell if it is saving properly, and there is no test functionality from the setup.
I'm relaying all of this to basically say: E-Mail functionality for the bb needs to be core via smtp. I've never seen any other registration based web-service that does not have this as main functionality and it seems a bit ridiculous to me that it's been this difficult to get it setup.

which one did you end up using? this one is the latest
I think we're still waiting on the original author to transfer ownership to us, that's why the plugin list is still showing his original version
Why do you need to transfer ownership? De-list the broken plugin so it doesn't show up for new users anymore and put in a replacement with a different name, or put the options into the core nodebb functionality (which is honestly where this kind of thing should be). this is negatively impacting first-use impressions for me.
Edit: Also the readme is incorrect on the repo you linked. It's still stating to npm install from your personal repository not the nodebb one.
