    Personally, I like to know who wrote the topic at a glance by his avatar so the current configuration suits me very well but if everything is configurable via the ACP and we could choose, why not ? 🙂

    Limiting posts to people with certain badges is one thing, but groups and their permissions is definitely something that needs to be flushed out a bit more in the future.

    I've managed to reproduce the issue on Win2k8R2. It's coming from ImageMagick not being installed/configured correctly.

    These are the steps I took to fix the issue:

    Go out and install the latest version of

    ImageMagick

    Source and binary distributions are available for download.

    ImageMagick (www.imagemagick.org)

    After running the installer make sure that you close the command prompt from which you are running NodeBB.

    Open a new command prompt and rerun node app.js

    The problem should be fixed! 🙂resolved.png

    Concept - Subtopics

    Just a totally random idea, would love to get your thoughts. What if topic authors could create subtopics, displayed below the OP? After topic creation, the ability to create one or more subtopics Users can reply in the main thread or in any of the child...

     is applicable to this discussion I believe. Perhaps NodeBB can leapfrog what's currently out there by a happy medium between nested comments and forked conversations. I dunno... it seems like we could allow 1 level of comments on a post, but not 2 (so no comment on a comment, only comment on a post). But --- we could build up forking functionality to allow forking of posts.

    So if someone really did want to comment on a comment, they could fork that and keep going. After all, confusion and lack of context is the complaint against reddit-like discussion isn't it? If we allowed one level of comments only, and then required forking after that, it might be the happy medium. Context would theoretically always be there.
