CV is lovely, but proximity to work is key. My employer has no branches in that neck of the woods, 3 in Nanaimo, The Duncan branch is nonunion so that would actually come with a pay cut.
and I have friends in Surrey so easier access to ferries is on the real estate "want" list.
Also, for the same Sqft, Nanaimo is roughly 50k cheaper than Parksville.

@chris @Keicowku @Amgine It depends what part of Nanaimo, I think. It sprawls up, but the center is reasonably compact and you get out of it pretty quickly. I've never lived there, though, only visited, so I may have an incomplete picture.
I had similar complaints as you from living in Victoria and Toronto, so maybe it's just a Canadian city problem.

@chris It shocks me that a party that is more neanderthal than BCUnited would have as much popularity as it does. No offense to the neanderthal, who were probably very communist...

@jpthuot03 I think it is a direct result of the culture wars and the name recognition/linkage between the Federal and BC Conservative party names. The BC United rebrand was a complete disaster. The general public essentially lost touch.
