Recent post highlighting
-
Hi all,
First time poster so go easy on me please
Have a two part feature request:
-
Wondering if there's a quick and easy method of briefly highlight recent posts/replies both within the category pages and within the home page i.e. real-time new post gets a little brief highlight when it comes in in the recent posts widget (similar to what you have when you highlight the post you just read when you back out of a thread)
-
Also any way to have the recent posts per category on the homescreen update in realtime?
Appreciate all the great work you guys are doing.

@nik The latest post in a topic does indeed update on the homepage in real time, but there's no highlighting on it, it just updates when <!-- BEGIN posts --> sees a newer post than what was already listed.
@a_5mith It does? Have not personally seen this happen on a fresh install of 0.43. I see the recent posts widget update in real time but the latest post per category stays static until a refresh.
EDIT: Definitely does not. Just tried it out. Just so I'm clear I'm referring to the recent posts under each category (which is configurable on the back end).

@nik yup, I had waterfox open and canary next to it, made a post in waterfox, updated live in canary. Not sure why it's not for you, it didn't when I edited the post though.
Judging by the other topics you've made, I'm going to assume there's something wrong with your install.

@a_5mith Actually I'll stand by what I said earlier.
It doesn't work even on this board right here. Just tested it. So either I'm being misunderstood or you're a feature release ahead of us
@nik This was the board I tested it on.
I'm not sure if @julian can shed some light on this as something isn't right with your experience and I'm not sure what would cause these things to happen. It's not your build of NodeBB, it's not one browser or the other as it happens on both Desktop & Mobile, the only thing left is your internet connection, but I don't know whether xhr-polling or websocket issues would cause it.
