I agree, this would be a nice feature to have for the sidebar.

As for the global sidebar problem, you can add a custom homepage using the custom-homepage plugin and set up widgets there instead of using global.

@Scuzz pretty sure as a hack for now you could use HTML widget to add a script that hides the div on click.

You can install a custom homepage by installing the custom-homepage plugin, no matter what theme you're using.

You should be able to find it in the plugins menu option on the admin side, but here's a forum link if you can't find it:

I'll look at the lavender theme to see if the homepage side bar is there.

I also want the main forum page to be the homepage and not a custom one.

The homepage sidebar should be available without the custom-homepage plugin and shouldn't require the lavender theme.

As for making the homepage the forum homepage and not a custom one, then maybe the custom-homepage plugin isn't what you're looking for. Otherwise an option would be to add in a couple of widgets to the custom homepage to make it seem more like a forum homepage. Up to you, really.

The homepage side bar is not in the widgets section in the admin control panel. There is a homepage footer but nothing else.

iirc you can set a homepage side bar without using the custom-homepage plugin. What version of nodeBB do you have installed?

@Tanner Just checked, its available in Lavender theme and not vanilla and cerulean.

I'm on latest stable nodebb with custom theme, I will have to add it in to my theme.

@Scuzz basing your custom themes off of lavender is probably the best idea. That's what I did, and haven't had much experience with the vanilla theme yet, so I just assumed. My bad mate.
