Hide sub-categories from /category page?

Hi. Is it possible to hide the sub-categories from the main category page? I have quite a lot of sub-categories and find they make the page look very messy. I would prefer that people just select the parent category and then see the list of sub-categories.

You can hide them with custom css in the acp. Something like this

.page-categories .categories .category-children {
  display: none;
}
