Picked up a Breville Bambino Plus w/o a portafilter yesterday for $12, which seemed like a bargain, but now I want best portafilter, basket, tamper, etc, so my bargain is getting expensive fast.

@ukuku donβt overthink it! Thatβs a great purchase!
Any suggestions @coffeegeek?
James has to deal with some challenging family situations currently, so it would be nice if he could get some small victories along the way for his thrift store buy.

Wow. $12. BarGOON.
First, get this:
https://amzn.to/3TDDMpj (there's also a black version somewhere on Amazon),
Second, get it a decent grinder. If you don't mind spending 45 sec grinding by hand, this one is killer for espresso (and other methods):
If you want a powered grinder, we have a guide to best budget choices for 2024.

Then go learn how to make espresso!

@coffeegeek @ZeKik Iβm almost ashamed to admit that I also picked up a Fellow Opus for $8 a couple of months ago at a different thrift shop. No one had ever cleaned it, and it no longer would click to the finer detents. Took it apart, cleaned it up, blew it out, and now works like a champ all across the range. Iβm amazed how people toss perfectly good items like that only need simple repairs, but Iβm thankful they do:)
Thanks for the tips and portafilter link!
