The legends all say that the hero arises in response to the Demon King returning to power. But that is only a correlation observation, not a causative relationship. What if, instead, the impending hero arrival causes the Demon King to return? Or both are created in response to some unknown third variable? In this essay I will discuss my hypothesis that Demon Kings and Heroes are a natural cycle of the world, no different from the seasons...

Over time, the Earth's magic is slowly released into the atmosphere, eventually creating an excess in available magic. Eventually this magic will condensate into monsters, demons, and heroes, no different from how excess moisture in the atmosphere will create clouds and rain as a way of collecting the excess magic, have them destroy one another, and return the magic into the ground, thus the cycle continues again.
