How edit - change names or delete default categories

In admin menu , on the left there is a category menu. Here, I am trying to edit or delete categories, there is a small icon directly on the right for each category name, but it is not working.
Do you have any ideas how to update / edit categories or how to fix this?

Seems to work for me here... what browser are you using?

@julian I am using Google Chrome, version 34.0.1847.137 and theme lavender. Here is a screenshot of my menu: http://postimg.org/image/quj34sbzz/. ( it does not work to upload image into this post ).

tried to checked it in Firefox as well - but with the same results

resetting all plugins helped to solve this issue as well. @julian
