Using the privileges , can we restrict the posts done by the user are seen just for him and the moderators? More like a 1-0-1 communication between the author and moderators.
To just the author and mods, unfortunately we cannot support this yet, as we don't have a "post author" pseudo-group. That is a good idea, though.
We did accomplish this via nodebb-plugin-support-forum, you could try this and see if it still works?

Any errors in NodeBB logs when you try to install or view the plugin list?

Got the solution.
The option is available under Manage > Categories > Options > Access Control > Search User > Privileges.
