Animated GIFs resized don't animate

I was trying to post an animated GIF to show somebody how to do something on the forums and to my surprise ... no animation. Turns out the one embedded in the post is resized and apparently strips out the animation.

Example of the problem

If you click the images to get the original, then you can see the animation.

Known issue https://github.com/NodeBB/NodeBB/issues/6692, do they work properly if the gif is smaller than the resize threshold?
