So, it was actually Prusa all along not the original rights holder that triggered the removal?
Figures.

@linux_mclinuxface In that video the person quotes “Prusa acted in response to a 3rd party report”. Sounds to me like NTI’s lawyers was going through all the IP saw something not in compliance, submitted a report, and when NTI saw the negative backlash, they tried to wash their hands clean.
Also, I don’t know how much weight to put in that video’s research considering they claim NTI is Swedish when in reality it’s Danish.

They should have never allowed those models on the web anyway, we should have never be all over the Benchy if it had such a awe-full license. It's just a stupid boat, any model that looks a bit funny will do. So no need to get one with a stupid license from a commercial company. -
@MisterMaker I agree for the most part, honestly.
I’ve printed benchy maybe 3 or 4 times - the obsession on it hurts the community. It’s like a weird inside joke and maybe not a great *printer* benchmark since it’s probably measuring slicer settings.
(I don’t think the license is awful, but maybe inappropriate?)

@teotwaki Meh, I find that unlikely.
NTI doesn't seem to care and I have no reason to believe that they would cook up a lie.
On the other hand, Prusa has been working in bad open source faith (or ignorance, take your pick) for years now. So, either Prusa is behaving impulsively on copyright claims with zero research (reckless...) or they are behaving are as the video describes. Given their track record either seems likely.

@teotwaki Also, it's been confirmed that NTP didn't file the request (nor anyone connected) according to all3dp.com

@chrastecky it took me a second to get why a bench was called a boaty.

@linux_mclinuxface There was nothing wrong with the license until it was being used how it was used. They should have revoked the license when they noticed this....
