@chris @AlisonCreekside my oldest child (who will be a first time voter) said that watching and listening to Sonia gave her some hope for the future. She was surprised to see a politician who seems to understand the roots of problems and cares about actually fixing them. Now, she is more enthusiastic about voting. I'm tearing up about how good it feels to see my kid have some hope.

As an Epilogue to this thread, here is a page with all of the polls for the 3 parties over the election.
https://338canada.com/bc/polls.htm
The last poll listed was on October 6th from Lรฉger and had the NDP 5 points ahead of the Conservatives.
We should get new poll numbers done after the debate by Monday.
Real polling, as in, Advance Voting starts in earnest tomorrow. Advance voting days are October 10, 11, 13, 15, and 16. Likely 8AM to 8PM in your local community or District Elections Office.
Election Day Oct 19 is only 10 days away!
elections.bc.ca is the place for all the info.

Given that less than either leading part has in support has given party's majority governments it's really going to depend on how those votes are distributed.

I cannot emphasize enough how unreliable the polls have become and I was someone who knew how to parse them before but polling firms have become 3 lobbyists in a trenchcoat.

@the5thColumnist very much so. And these do not help at all to figure out the many interactions with independent candidates!

@LALegault @chris I am curious if the use of cell phones (particularly the way different demographics use them) has impacted pollsters abilities to conduct accurate polling. (Ie. Are the people who answer their cell phones a representative sample?) Do you have any thoughts on that?

That was an issue about 10 years ago. Mostly the issue is that polling is now being conducted amonst the party faithful and yes, people will not pick up unknown name phone calls anymore so it contributes to the issue. When you ask around to people if they have ever been polled, I am yet to hear someone say โyea.โ

@LALegault @chris
I was so disappointed this summer when I missed two phone calls from EKOS polling. I'm a big geek who would love to answer a political poll. -
