“This is cowardice, a moment of darkness that will leave democracy as a casualty. Donald #Trump will celebrate this as an invitation to further intimidate The Post’s owner, Jeff Bezos (and other media owners),” former Post executive editor Martin Baron, who led the paper while Trump was president, said. “History will mark a disturbing chapter of spinelessness at an institution famed for courage.”

Exactly.
The institutions of our democracy are already floundering before our very eyes. Wake up people. -
The institutions are engaging in anticipatory obedience, to invoke Timothy Snyder.

@GottaLaff
It's gutless, but not the way people are presenting it. The owners are too gutless to deal with the fallout from forcing their editorial staff to endorse Trump, so they tried the weak compromise of blocking any endorsement. It failed, and it probably brought more attention to the topic of editorial endorsements than if they had just ignored it and let their papers endorse Harris. It also shows what turds the owners are. -

@GottaLaff media malfeasance continues. Too few papers and they’re owned by the elites. What do we expect?
-
@Danetteb Nothing. I'm so so utterly disheartened... again.
-
@GottaLaff I know I appreciate that you keep fighting to educate people on what is happening. I know it’s rough to wade through all this each day
-
@Danetteb It’s rough for all of us. I know I’m not alone in that. Thank you so much for keeping me going.

You're the best Laffy! Onward we go.

@GottaLaff @mastodonmigration @Danetteb it was terrible hard frightening news. But it was a reveal we needed about how deep the corruption runs through our institutions and power balances. And we are winning. And “if we fight we win.”
