Is it mandatory for the copyright to be displayed at the bottom of the page? Can a check box be added to the settings to hide it?

I don't think it should be a option to remove as this is a open source project the original creators should have a link back

the software is open source so whatever exposure we can get is more than appreciated given the work we've put into this.
that said, legally nothing is stopping you from removing the copyright footer. we're just happy enough that you're using the software:)
