NodeBB is designed to work best under a virtual private server. Using a traditional hosting service is not recommended as they do not have the capabilities to power NodeBB effectively.

Check OpenShift. They have a free tier offering 512MB RAM and 1GB storage. On the NodeBB docs there's an explanation on this.

Heroku also has a free tier and it is the easiest setup I've found.
