Assigning user group after registration

    I am aware of system group named registered-users which includes everyone, but I want to have "special" separated group of users beside registered-users.

    I also noticed that when user is logged in one can see emails of all users on their profile page. Is it possible to turn this feature off? Or have I overlooked it in settings?

    @metalkramp there is a plugin called nodebb-plugin-assign-newuser-to-group that is in the plugin list that will allow you to select a group for users to be assigned to upon registration.

    There is also the setting 'Make user info private'...

    under settings > users that keeps the email and other personal information private, for just email there is a further default setting for users - 'Show email'

    still continuing on my OAuth2 plugin implementation, I've a problem I can't actually solve and need you valuable advises.

    I've this fragment in my plugin

    and I'd like to return the user to the forum login page and notify him about the issue, something like when the password is wrong. Is there a smart way to make it happen from such a plugin without rising an error?

    Group Badge does not show up

    @dschilling it is actually slightly confusing, he may not have explicitly set it, but saving the user settings might have automatically set the badge as "no badge" since he did not have a badge at the time.

    Something we'll want to address for sure 🙂

    Ah, not really... topic subscriptions are considered (in my opinion) user private data, and that is not shared by default.

    You could instruct your users to adjust their settings if they are being notified about a specific topic too often:

    Hierarchical groups

    Hi Developers,

    I filed a feature request recently, asking for hierarchical groups (for the full description see: https://github.com/NodeBB/NodeBB/issues/7410).

    I completely understand this request may not help everyone, and perhaps its not considered something that should be added to the core.

    To that end, does anyone have an idea how to efficiently implement the above in a plugin? I am trying to avoid multiple accesses to the DB, and obviously redundant c/p. How would you go about implementing that?
