I have so many questions about monitors right now, such as why the fuck Dell would make a 34" Thunderbolt display with only 1440 vertical pixels. Seems like such a waste.

@tewha soooo, interestingly, IIRC, that’s what I have my 4k 34” set to. 4k at that size is too small. I may have it bumped one larger… but at the distance I sit, plus with all the assistive tech I have, it’s fine.

@octothorpe I’m thinking the widescreen 34 is probably less tall than I’m expecting. I’ll have to look up and compare when I get home.

@tewha oh! So not 16:9. I’m old and whenever I see ‘widescreen’ I think of it in relation to 4:3/academy ratio.

@octothorpe More like 8:3 I think. Is that a thing? I’m pretty sure it was more than 2:1 anyway.

@tewha ultrawide monitors often keep the x9 and do something squidgy with the 16… often 32 (double wide) or 21 (1.5x wide).
