@seachanger Learned recently it was Obama who ramped up ICE. Have never forgotten his "abortion isn't a priority," or his act in Flint with the water. Typical many white center-left here see him as a positive example.

@seachanger @Heidentweet Yeah I've been thinking about that trajectory a lot lately.

When he started looking like he had a chance, I thought "oh hell yeah, subaltern identity, fucked up childhood, he's going to aim for deep and abiding structural change – LFG!"

And then he just... protected the status quo. At every turn. That whole 8 year period was such a perfect example of the road to hell being paved with good intentions. I feel like I still need to learn more lessons from it.
