@KathyLK I'll confess that I'm tempted to think that — but I also think it's not a helpful response to people in dire circumstances, to blame them for the poor choices they made that have contributed to their immiseration. We have huge educational challenges in the US, obviously, with so many people prone to believe toxic nonsense that ends up hurting them!

I agree! When the racist and misogynist religious bigots have been entrenched for decades in "poorly educated" states, what are we supposed to do? The Preamble to our Constitution states, "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
Wouldn't it follow, then, that some government agency should be enforcing the Constitution and the laws derived from it? How can "justice" be left to voters alone?

Yes, that's the question I ask myself over and over as one who lives in such a state. And I honestly can't say I have an answer. As someone whose family in this state has long been full of educators, I can say that the value my own family has long placed on education is just not shared by a lot of my fellow citizens — and I don't know why.

Eco fascists are openly aware of climate change (and pollution etc) and strike a populist pose to offer oversimplified solutions that the ignorant will think sound good but has little benefit and lays the hidden burden on the underprivileged, specifically the non-white in poor countries.
