I’m desperately trying to figure out if it’s illegal to hold hourly associates against their will beyond an 8 hour period because I am still sick and I can’t fuggin do this shit

Depends on where you are. Unfortunately in most states the answer is "they can't _technically_ force you, but they can fire you if you don't". Of course, they have to pay you (potentially at overtime rates).
