@quillmatiq @bart @jaypeters @theverge @subclub so much tech “innovation” is actually about trying to own what should be infrastructure.

@SoGeneris RSS is my BFF! Whats your reader of choice? I've been using Readwise Reader lately and I'm loving it, especially the newsletter inbox

@SoGeneris We're not trying to own the infrastructure, we're trying to drive it forward! We plan on open sourcing, opening the "Subscribe" button for other services in a standardized way, and will enable portability of followers to other Fediverse services

@quillmatiq I need to check that out! I’ve been though just about everything. Google Reader back in the day (still the best), Newsblur for a long time after that, Inoreader, etc. Dabbled in OwnCloud. Occasional Feedly. Lately I’ve settled on the News Explorer app, which has just worked for me for years and syncs using iCloud, so I feel like my list is mine and portable.

@SoGeneris I've used all the above except News Explorer - need to dig into that one

@quillmatiq It’s a pretty straightforward app (clean, without a lot of bells and whistles), but the dev keeps it up to date. I’ve really come to appreciate apps that just keep working over time. That and the iCloud sync are the keys for me with it.

@SoGeneris @quillmatiq The problem with Reeder is, you’re sharing all your interactions with this commercial company...
I just use my own FreshRSS instance, and the NetNewsWire app to connect to it

@Kdude @SoGeneris I would *love* to use NetNewsWire, but it's only for Apple devices and I'm on Android, Linux, and Windows

@quillmatiq @SoGeneris Surely there must be good Android RSS apps too, which can connect to FreshRSS. I don’t know which though ️
