The eternal annoyance of setting up a new computer without easy access to the old one

@foone you are going to love the pattern scripting thing. it's *so* good. like, "I wrote a PE parser in it on day 1 of using the tool" level of capable and well-enough-documented.

@gsuberland I'm sure!
unfortunately I'm currently stuck on a laptop with too high a DPI display to use this. but I'm definitely coming back to imhex!
-
@foone ?

@4c31 It's one of my pet peeves: the GPL isn't that kind of license. It's not a EULA, you don't have to agree or accept it. It only affects you if you choose to redistribute it, in which case you just have to follow it, it doesn't matter if you "accept" or "agree" with it. Your legal rights are the same.

I didn't even make it past one day!
-
@foone I very much like ImHex but can't remember what issues got me to go back to Hex Workshop

accidentally misthreaded this one:

trying to bring up my Death Generator workflow on a new computer really does make me realize how many tiny little tools I use. I've been working on this one game for like 4 hours today, and about 3 of that was installing various things
-
well and maybe a half hour of recoding something because that was easier than going upstairs to get it
-
and I keep wanting to rant like my university math teacher.
To paraphrase him heavily, any system without yt-dlp installed on it shouldn't be considered bootable!

@eniko god yeah. so often I'm like "I know I have a PSX file extractor, but... what the fuck was it called? I don't know what to search for!"
with at least one program I renamed it in my folder just so I would have a SLIGHT chance of remembering wtf it was

@foone
knee driven development -
I was so close to being mad, but finally some sense.
-
@cdamian hernia driven development, but it's similar
-
@foone It's like a magic spell. "You are now aware of your rights"
-
@olafurw now I wonder if I uninstall it, if I'll be no longer aware of my rights.
-
@foone "I can't remember the name of it, but somehow remember that it's written in Delphi"
-
@nasu right?
