Say whatever you want about Bluesky, but something there has clicked. There's a web extension called "Sky Follower Bridge" that makes it incredibly easy for folks to find their old friends from Twitter on there too.

If there is a "Twitter replacement" the battle seems to be between Bluesky and Threads with the former in the lead while Fedi stuff like Mastodon is its own (and very cool thing) for folks who didn't want Twitter all over again.

@literalgrill I heard there was a Fedi equivalent to that a few years ago (Twitter->Fedi) and Fedi ppl here bullied the dev in less than a day of announcing that, so badly that it seems the dev left? Basically what happened to the Bridgy guy, possibly worse.
It's something I'd like and was bummed to find out the above
I think Masto deserves its just desserts at this rate. And anyone who says "don't worry, Bsky will fall eventually" is just coping at this rate.
Then again it depends, cuz I saw the Bsky reddit hope that this means brands will come soon, and that got screenshot by someone on Bsky, and Everyone Disliked That Idea to the point of bullying, so I think Bsky folk are also coping when they say they're different from Masto.
Two platforms are trying their best to service users who are having conflicts within each other lol
(Sorry if I sound snippy, this is just stressing me out again because I've lost connections, possible jobs and eyes bc webcomics and comics folk are on Bsky, and I'm not joining/have bridged to no success, but I'm also so tired of "each side" lacking self-awareness about their respective platforms! :yor_knife: )

It's the funny thing about bsky-masto animosity ... they really have pretty similar crowds ... the main difference, AFAICT, is bsky peeps really got pissed off at the holier than though linux vibe here and genuinely thought instances were a bad idea ... and like they're not wrong.
Other than that there's more in common than not.
