This is a huge step in the right direction — and long overdue. The Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards have real teeth. If this proposal comes into effect, carmakers will finally have to address how car bloat endangers pedestrians.

@davidzipper Being a pedestrian is basically like being temporarily homeless. So I guess the solution is the same as for homelessness? Making walking illegal and jailing pedestrians?

@hannorein @davidzipper even when you’re joking about the ‘solution’, saying “being a pedestrian is like being homeless” is insane in its own right. Do you never go outside of your vehicle where you live

@mikkelens @hannorein @davidzipper There's at least one person somewhere in the US who gets in their car inside their garage, drives to another garage at work, then buys grocery at a place where the parking as well as a gas station is underground or inside a building and didn't yet realize they never went outside in a whole month.
