Gaaahhh... I thought I had more time
My 2017 MacBook Air charger has given up the ghost, & it's no longer available new. I'm pretty hesitant about knockoff options & buying used (authenticity is hard to ensure, and Apple offers a used version that's still $62). Any ideas? Or anyone have a 45W MagSafe 2 adapter they're not using??

@nat I have had good experiences with https://eshop.macsales.com/ and owc.

@nat Oh crap. Maybe I should try to find one for my old MacBook, in case it dies.

@nat They still sell the 85 W version, and it will work just fine to replace the 45 W version.

@matsuzine thanks! looks like they don't carry the one I need but good to know for the future!

@gcvsa yeah I had a spare for my last one but never got around to it this time around... hard to justify the cost when you're broke!

@gcvsa Will It? I have heard some people have had it fry their computers and they very explicitly say not to do that...

@nat I have a 60W MagSafe 2 power adapter with original box I'm not using. I'm not sure that's compatible. It's in Ontario though and I think you're PNW?

@ellie I am! Sounds like @nullagent's hackerspace may have one available so I will see if that works out thank you!!

ok, I got a USB-C to Magsafe 2 adapter and will try that with one of @nullagent's chargers. And someone in our community may have a spare charger for me. I'll back up my computer just in case. It's more than 7 yrs old so I'm hoping to replace it this year.
