@purple xfs has been my default for years and i have rarely regretted it. not being able to shrink a filesystem is mildly irritating sometimes but that is not a dealbreaker by any means

@linear in all my years of admin'ing, i've never needed to shrink a filesystem. but i am poor so i do it anyway. xfs is used on long term things like mirrored data stores that only ever grow, however some of the wear-components like /home get ext (because compatible!)
