For other US-based instance admins: you know how you're legally required to report Child Sexual Assault Material (CSAM) to the NCMEC? And how the public CyberTipLine process isn't really designed to handle that?

I've gotten in touch with the NCMEC, and they helped woof.group get set up with their electronic service provider reporting flow. It's a different version of the form, all one page, geared towards service operators. I think other instances should be able to register for it too. #admin

@aphyr another option is IFTAS CCS where IFTAS handles both detection & reporting

@thisismissem They're still in phased launch, only with one server, right?

@thisismissem @jaz Ah, OK, the last update I have from IFTAS was the September email that said it was still just for one server, but they'd be moving up to 50--that post was intended for other operators, and I don't want to point them at a service they can't yet use.
I think we're OK for now--we only have to deal with a report every 1-2- months, but getting ahold of the NCMEC took so long that I wanted to share the information.

@aphyr @thisismissem we are starting to onboard a few small servers, but my main concern right now is sustainability, the service costs us roughly $5,000 / month just to have the lights on.
Our funding situation is not great. We are applying for grants, but it's not something most folks want to support, I'm getting a lot of "not a fit for us at this time"...
I'm non-stop working on funding to be able to offer a service I know will be up and running for people.
cont'd...

@aphyr @thisismissem if you haven't already, please register your interest in using the service at https://cryptpad.fr/form/#/2/form/view/SXiobzcxTRrpVsWMJDh+h+loLkAmsTQ-8-egNm+ihlo/
This helps me when talking to potential funders - I can demonstrate there's a solid need and desire for the service.
