"Amazon started selling new cars today. The online retailer and Internet giant has had its sights on shifting metal for some time now, and if you live in one of 48 cities in the US, and you're looking for a new Hyundai, it's ready for your business."

@jalefkowit Buying a car and involving *both* a dealership and Amazon? Its like someone looked at the process and thought "how can we make it even more skeevy than it already is?"

@wordshaper Amazon claims they provide a hard no-haggle price, which I could see providing a layer of value over buying from the dealership directly. Lots of people HATE the experience of buying from car dealerships. If Amazon can let you skip all that, I could imagine some people being willing to pay more than they might if they haggled with the dealership directly.
(Of course this all assumes that the Amazon price really is fixed. I could see dealerships trying to hard-sell you on upgrades when you're handed off to them.)
