To expand on that a bit:

Generative tools all have randomness intentionally built into them. It's adjustable.

Developers could turn randomness off and then it would return exactly the same answer every time.

Except returning *exactly* the same answer every time would break the illusion that it's "intelligent" instead of a parrot, so they can't do that.
