I admit I’ve succumbed more than I like so this is a good chance to move my shopping from Amazon.
I tried a year or so ago and did ok, but slipped back into old habits.

People need to understand that free shipping isn't free —it's raised prices on everything. Add in the enshittification of the site, knock offs, search is crap...
Look, I get it's convenient, but the reality is the product is getting shittier every day and you're paying more for it.
It doesn't have to be all-or-nothing--start shopping local and direct from company websites. I promise it's not that hard. You might even buy less and save money and the planet that way.
