GOG.com, the online game retailer known for its stance against digital rights management (DRM), is embroiled in yet another cultural debate on Twitter. This time, it was a tweet with the #WontBeErased hashtag, which spread on Twitter over the weekend in LGBT communities.

@tamitha @djsundog @ajroach42 For a little while in the late 2010s their Twitter account would periodically try out that kind of dumb “edgy” content. It was never clear to me how much of it was genuine malice, how much was some social media manager playing for engagement, and how much was cultural/language differences. But it was disappointing regardless.
It’s been years since the last time they did it, though, so I assume someone over there eventually learned a lesson.
GOG Account Publishes Yet Another Awful Tweet
Yesterday, GOG, CD Projekt Red’s digital storefront, posted a tweet that included a hashtag that has been circulating to advocate for trans rights. However, the tweet was a promotional post about the storefront. The post was soon deleted, and today, the company explained the retraction. This is all familiar.
