Portland St. cancels game due to whooping cough
Not many anti-vaxers #OnHere, so this may.be preaching to the choir. But at least it gives you ammunition when discussing vaccinations with the hoards of now vaccine-hesitant people #OutThere. I'm always said that when our lack of vaccine uptake starts to affect #SportsBall then people will get back on the enlightened side instead of skulking back to the dark ages of blood-letting and leaches. I can't believe how fast a century of public health advances was erased.

Fueling our race backwards to the dark ages of public health are charlatan health officials like the fraud Dr. Joseph Ladapo of Florida. Check what he released this week as the head health official of the state of Florida, population 23 million.

that's cruel & unbelievable, is that guy a real doctor or is he a doctorate of superstition or something?
i'm worried this will spread to other states & be used to deny regular covid boosters to those of us who need them because we're vulnerable
there's almost no uptake in my state (Louisiana) as it is & the pharmacist at Walgreen's denied me my vaccine-- i have found another pharmacy but if they stop stocking it too...
*worried*

@peachfront @Brad_Rosenheim He's a real doctor. Two degrees from Harvard, even, along with teaching experience at NYU and UCLA. But his area of practice was internal medicine, which made it weird when he started speaking out in 2020 on epidemiology. (Which is how he came to the attention of Ron DeSantis.)
His story is a useful reminder of two things:
1) Elite credentials are not necessarily a guarantee that a person knows what they are talking about
2) Just because a doctor is an expert in their area of practice doesn't mean they know anything about other areas of medicine

@jalefkowit @peachfront To be clear, I didn't mean to imply that his credentials were fraudulent, but that he himself is a fraud who betrays the Hippocratic oath and the scientific method every day. He was hired in a rush and the process broke from standard protocol, and he was given tenure at the University of Florida without proper review (in my opinion, fraudulently).

@Brad_Rosenheim @peachfront Oh, no disagreement whatsoever. He saw the bag and grabbed at it. And DeSantis was happy to bulldoze whatever speed bumps were in the way of establishing a useful crony in a position of authority. Just pure corruption all round.
