The Mastodon(?) "feature" where it includes the booster in replies when replying to a boosted toot is one of the most horrible misfeatures on the platform.

@algernon yeah that sounds like whatever client you're using. mastodon's web UI doesn't do that

@jacksonchen666 None of my clients do that, but I had to mute a number of conversations lately because I got a whole lot of annoying notification spam, 'cos I got tagged in replies, and the discussion went... uhh... sideways.

@algernon itβs actually something I find useful and want Semaphore and FediText to also getβ¦ what are your reasons for finding it bad?

@algernon I think this is only an option added by certain third-party Mastodon clients, although perhaps some of them enable the option by default? I don't see this option in Tusky, I don't believe it has that behavior, but I believe I have it enabled in Moshidon. I can see how it might annoy some people, but I thought it could be nice to include people in the conversation if it's relevant to them.

@mirabilos Getting a lot of mentions on threads I boosted. Just because I boosted something, it doesn't mean I want to be tagged in threads branching off from it. If I do, I'll reply myself, or find other ways to follow discussions on it.
I had to mute a handful of threads in the past day or two, 'cos my mentions were full of junk. Arguably, a handful of muted threads isn't much, but it's bigger than zero.

@skyfaller If replies are relevant to me, I'll get myself tagged by replying, or "quote tooting", or some other way.
