Streetsblog is a wonderful organization and I've volunteered and supported them for over a decade. Their presence here on the fediverse leaves something to be desired. They basically spam us daily with all of their blog posts and don't have anyone reading the replies or watching to see how those posts spread. Even though there are many people here who would love their content.
I'm going to reach out to them today about this. We've got to do better than this. @streetsblognyc

@[email protected] Seeing that domain name, isn't this a simple twitter forwarder? You don't even need to have signed up for this, anyone can set up an account to forward any twitter account, no? I have the suspicion that Streetsblog doesn't even know about this.

I'm going to see if I can go meet with them and do a presentation about their options.
It's so hard to get people to understand that #onhere having 10k followers is HUGE because thats ten thousands thinking humans and a large portion will react and respond when you post something.
The inflated numbers from walled gardens have distorted our perceptions.
As an urban planning and livable streets advocacy organization their PEOPLE are here. I think I can demonstrate this.

I think this presentation will happen. I will need to do a bunch of research. I'll post more about what I'll present here next weekend.
Reaching out to organizations & helping them to get on the fediverse is something we ought to take more seriously. I do not know if I, a simple school teacher are a perfect envoy, but I have known the people in this org for YEARS, they are good friends.
But I will need help!

@futurebird @trinsec I've been involved with organizations I'll describe as liberal, mainstream, and activist. I've attempted to get them to up their social media games, including the fediverse. I have uniformly failed. I would attribute these failures to two causes:
1. The people I'm trying to influence are in a demographic that is too ossified to "get it".
2. And more likely, I'm the wrong guy delivering the wrong message, the wrong way.
I'm looking forward to learning from your efforts.
