Mastodon is full of people who accidentally got in trouble at school. You asked too many questions. You challenged teachers authority on subjects if you didn't feel like they explained it well enough. You suggested a third option when there were only two presented. You didn't understand why you got in trouble, you were just trying to give everyone a fuller experience.

@RickiTarr For me it was because I read ahead, or had already read the book we were supposed to go through at a snail's pace and had questions about things the class hadn't gotten to yet. (Or, in the case of one book, called the teacher out for using "donkey" when the word in the book was "ass.")

@RickiTarr I saw this on instagram this week and it’s the best description of my worldview I’ve seen and fits perfectly with your topic #actuallyautistic

@VampiresAndRobots @RickiTarr I had to report to detention a few times for reading ahead. I learned that taking control of one's own education is punk AF.

If I had the funding I would do full psychological workups on everyone on the Fediverse.
I suspect that instances of neuro-diversity would be higher than the general population

@[email protected] @[email protected] @[email protected] i'd read ahead but not tell anyone. i can read at 1k wpm (using one of those fancy extensions that gives me words one by one) but more reasonably at 400wpm (it's hard to measure, i can read fast but my typing speed is 140wpm for reference so it's hard to do throughput tests)

@[email protected] @[email protected] @[email protected] and yeah. i was constantly bored. i'd read through the book chapter, get done and then reread because i didn't want to be yelled at by my teacher for not reading the book

...um
...So, this isn't what everyone is doing all the time? Are there people who are really like: "Yeah, this isn't perfect but it's fine. It's OK. Not all that bothered about it all the time every day every moment?"
...
I do not believe this. But, perhaps it explains a few things.

@futurebird @boulder @RickiTarr this was my question too. Doesn’t everyone see issues and what them to not be issues???
