@[email protected] "use libreoffice to counter microsoft's monopoly on office productivity suites" shut. look i use libre office all the time and i get fucking endlessly annoyed at some of the ui decisions. i just want something that's easy to use and most of my workflows are excel specific (the tables, the functions, etc. libreoffice calc doesn't have 1:1 feature parity and when i need to make something a table and then sort by a column there's not a good way of doing this in calc). if libreoffice calc added that? yippee. don't care as long as it's available. i agree it's nice to not pay for an office suite but i am a windows sysadmin with a plethora of licenses from my work to the school i attend giving me m365 access... so like... if it's being paid for by someone else... might as well use it?

@[email protected] like yes i agree i fucking hate the anti competitive nature of microsoft, especially with office and the fact that it uses undocumented windows internals for optimization but you know at the end of the day i have work to do and i can't just tell my boss "sorry i can't submit those reports, my philosophical purity prohibits me from using microsoft software"

@puppygirlhornypost2 @[email protected] Probably my #1 gripe with FOSS in general is that someone will actively avoid doing things the "commercial" way, even if it's the sensible standard that everyone understands.

@raeve @[email protected] YES! they go against "industry standard" in an act of rebellion but like... people's workflow relied on that? now you're telling me i get to spend a couple weeks to months learning everything all over again (looking at you GNU Image Manipulation Program, looking at you)

@puppygirlhornypost2 @vyr @raeve my ass seeing darktable do a whole fucking essay/tutorial about how their way of photo editing is ackshually better and truer to faith, so much that I didn't need a fucking tutorial to get a photo that satisfied me out of lightroom
