I feel like the term subpost kinda sucks ass. It’s ambiguous, sometimes I use the word to refer to when I see a post in my timeline and I want to talk about that topic without necessarily hijacking op’s thread. Other times, I am just making a light hearted remark as a tease. It has such a negative connotation because most time you see it is when it starts drama
-
like how can i differentiate between "I saw this in passing on my timeline, wanted to talk about it without bothering the original poster", "I am making a lighthearted tease for a mutual to see" and "I am clearing something up, but not responding to op directly because i don't want to get into an argument"
-
there was one time one of my mutuals posted about GCC and had a wild misinterpretation of what GPL does in the case of GCC assuming all binaries that were made by GCC fall under GPL... and I subposted them about it to clarify but I didn't respond directly because I didn't want to start a fight.

@puppygirlhornypost2 no idea but tell me if you figure it out

@puppygirlhornypost2 i super dislike subposts personally because i feel like they can be used to say horrible things about other human beings without them noticing, but i guess that can happen anyways
-
@[email protected] yeah, they're a double edged sword. i try to avoid writing negative subposts as much as possible because i'm not really here to shit talk my friends yk
