where's that one post from a disabled person (I believe it was on one of the instances specifically for people struggling with disabilities) talking about how they don't need to explain their disability to you. sometimes you can't see it, and to be asked basic questions like "wow, you have cancer? what have you tried to do to overcome it" ends up draining them of energy because it's a nonstop occurrence. I feel like that relates to this post. It's not because we don't have sources for salvation army being bad (literally, just a couple seconds of google can show you it's some weird military structured christian denomination that forces women in DV shelters to abide by their beliefs) it's because we are so fucking sick and tired of having to explain to people the ways we are discriminated against. people don't believe us.

people to this day refuse to acknowledge the bathroom scare is predominately trans-misogynistic it's focused around transfem individuals and them being "predatory" because of their genitals. it disproportionately impacts transfems (not to say that it doesn't also fuck over transmascs who have their own issues to worry about). Anyway, as I do not want to derail this into transmisandry/transmisogyny discourse... the point is that constantly having to bring up specific examples of when we're demonized or discriminated against is exhausting. it's especially exhausting when people then use that and go "well I just don't see why you'd feel that way". it's draining and while some people might ask it in good faith a majority of the replyguy sealioning i experience on fedi in regards to that is not good faith. I'm more than happy to educate people on trans issues but you know sometimes I am overwhelmed and exhausted too and I just don't have the energy to write down a detailed list of everything wrong in society

I’m aware that the antisodomy laws also impact heterosexual couples but you know I think it’s fair to state that it impacts the queer community a hell of a lot worse. My mom used this whataboutism on me in regards to why I don’t want to live in Texas. "Well… they’ve just always been there" to which I responded "yes, and they’re starting to enforce them I don’t feel comfortable with that".

This is the shit we deal with. People going "well I can’t get married in certain countries because I had a divorce" THAT IS NOWHERE NEAR EQUAL TO WHAT WE FACE. Anyway, I wrote this because I agree with the message @[email protected] is trying to say I just think it can come off hostile to people unaware. I wrote this to explain our perspective and why we might feel upset (putting this lightly) when we are asked the same 5 questions by 500 different people

@[email protected] @[email protected] Oh you cant marry someone because you already got married to someone else... is NOT THE SAME THING AS NOT BEING ABLE TO MARRY AT ALL

@[email protected] @[email protected] But yeah... its not your job to educate idiots on transnessness. I try and be helpful and explain things to people who are genuine and actually wanna learn, but people who show any sort of disingenuous in their questions or responses to questions then I just say fuck you and leave.

@puppygirlhornypost2 And realistically, anti-sodomy laws and similar have never seriously been enforced against hetero couples. Maybe sometimes, in specifically targeted cases (generally specifically to harass the people involved), but 99+% of the time they're exclusively used to target, persecute, and prosecute homosexuality.

@puppygirlhornypost2 That being said...i expect the predatory label will find its way to trans men eventually. It seems to be headed there

@[email protected] It already is there. People refer to transmascs as "predatory" for daughters. As if they're somehow going to groom people's perfect little princesses into a boy. It's really weird actually

@[email protected] @[email protected] would be able to explain it a bit better.
