@millerdl I must say from experience that this is untrue surprisingly often. Actually, when trying to do this, in surprisingly many cases I have to spend a lot of time digging out a usable e-mail address from some Git history buried deep below GitHub's horrible UI.

If maintainers open up their projects to the community, in contrast to the customers of their commercial platform of choice, I'll happily spend any amount of time writing them thank you messages.

@nik @millerdl well, using Github and discord might not be everyone's favourites. And that's surely understandable. Nobody forces you to use them. We do also list a simple mail address for contacting purposes. For us developers, the question is merely, where we may have the biggest audience or impact...

@numeredevs @millerdl Ah there's an obvious answer to this question: Where there are no artificial barriers when joining, like ridiculous limitations on age or origin, for example. But don't mind, I am aware most people don't get it.
